Dialoge / Konzert für zwei Klaviere und großes Orchester
Their constant commitment to contemporary music is what pianists Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Tamara Stefanovich have in common with conductor Matthias Pintscher. One example is Peter Eötvös’s latest work »Reading Malevich«, which receives its world premiere just a few days before this concert. Both Pintscher and Eötvös are composers and conductors at the same time, and they have both made guest appearances as Artist in Residence in the Elbphilharmonie series »Multiverse«. Now the series continues with the composer-conductor Sir George Benjamin, who was born in London in 1960. In addition to his subtle and sophisticated work »Sudden Time«, the programme also features »Stele« by György Kurtág. Originally written for piano and premiered in 1994, the work was later rewritten by the composer as a three-movement orchestral piece.
